The Big Suggestion Box
Each thread created so far has its specific purpose and meaning to this cause, but we're lacking a miscellaneous catchall thread of some sort.
So here you are. Post what you think the /tg/ Missle Silo Project needs to succeed. Whether it is a simple idea people overlooked, or something we could do once the project is finalized, all the random shit goes here.

Dedicated core people.
I mean people like the guy who calls the sellers, the guy who goes and checks out the locations, the guy who handles the money, the guy who manages the temporary housing, the guy who oversees the cleaning operation etc.
Without these people, there will be no payoff.

I can't believe we forgot this.
No, wait, I can.
But anyway, we do need some non-gaming recreational space: tv/video gaming rooms, places where people can exercise.

I don't mean to recruit others like this, but once this forum has been active for at least a week we would be able to select an integral core better.
Also, Mods and Admins.

Will pets be allowed? Will smoking be allowed? Will we be able to have an actual bar, or will we have to get licenced? Will dogs smoking cigars, drinking cognac and playing poker be allowed?

This. I would love to have a Welsh Corgi running around the place.

For vidya gaems, there could be a single level dedicated to each brand, sponsored by the major console companies (Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo) or even just one level and it's split into three.

Pets are a slippery slope. They take up resources and require cleanup. Cleanup that not everyone is diligent about.
If we do have pets, we need a size limit and a limit of one pet per person.
Smoking is a bit easier, in some ways. You can smoke in your quarters, and in designated smoking areas. And of course, outside.
While liquor licenses are depended on what state and county we're in, my experience has been a license is only required if you are selling, or providing to the open public.

A personal club requires no liquor license. As long as it's 500 feet from any work premise, it's all in the clear.

Good thing we're in the middle of the wilderness. So long as no part of the silo counts as a work premise.

If we put a gamestore/hotel/club/bar in there, it will probably.Anon wrote:Good thing we're in the middle of the wilderness. So long as no part of the silo counts as a work premise.

500 feet really isn't that much. The main problem would be accident insurance if there's a bar on site. the best thing to do would be having an out building with a distillery/brewhouse, BBQ, and bar all in one nice building.

Now it's been mentioned a couple of times in the topic and they're probably joking but I absolutely do not want this to turn into a reality show.

Fucking agree. I'm not into the idea of marketing a whole bunch of neckbeards for a Big Bang Theory spin off.

Yeah, if we can do this without big brother getting involved, I'd be happy. Either big brother.
On the other hand, it would be cool to be mentioned on the news, or something. So long as they don't mention any of the stuff that /b/ does, like hacking on steroids, or making random vans explode.

Well, the best thing we can do would to be get government grants for scientific research. Easy enough to do. That way, the Government can fund us to do what we want.

But a website with streaming video might provide some income without being too intrusive or demanding. We could limit cameras to public areas and special events.

I think having public places wired for webcam makes good sense in terms of security, and it would allow profit to be made on the side for things like that, if the resolution is high enough.

Re: The Big Suggestion Box
Live Video streaming may also bring in some public attention, which means people wanting to go there, which means tourists and costumers.
We may be able to have yearly conventions or something. I don't know it all really depends on how big the place is.
Also, I wouldn't mind being a janitor if it means a free room. I don't know if I'd be able to work at the Silo AND at a normal job though, just to pay for being in the silo.
How do we balance out the whole "Paying your way" Thing?
